EX-WARD COUNCILLOR ARRESTED FOR ALLEGED MURDER

ALLEGED MASTERMIND BEHIND DEATH OF WARD COUNCILLOR CANDIDATE ARRESTED A 44-year-old former councillor was jailed on Monday after he was connected to the murder of ANC comrade Piet Moletsane, who was active in politics and running for Ward 4 councillor in Meloding at the time of the murder. All of the accused are charged with murder, according to Makhele. Piet Moletsane was gunned dead by two hitmen aged 32 and 34 on September 23, 2021, while leaving the tavern where he worked, according to Free State police spokesperson Brigadier Motantsi Makhele. On January 28, 2022, the two hitmen were successfully tracked down and caught, and they are still in custody. The alleged mastermind is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, while the other two suspects are still being held in custody.
